MANILA—In what could be considered good news, Pasig Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski said that his father, PBA legend Robert Jaworski Sr., has improved health-wise from last year.

The younger Jaworski received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the PBA Press Corps on behalf of his dad during the said media group's awards night on Tuesday at the Novotel Monet Ballroom in Quezon City.

"He is physically stronger now than he was last year. Last year, medyo mas marami siyang challenges. May improvement naman," said Robert Jr., who got to play with his dad with Ginebra during the mid-90s.

He added that the patriarch is "very comfortable" at his home right now, but the current deputy of Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto added that the 1978 PBA MVP, now aged 78, is not yet back at the full strength that he was before he contracted pneumonia and a rare blood disorder in 2021.

"The people need his back 100 percent, so we still need your prayers kasi naniniwala naman kami na nothing is impossible. Ibigay natin sa Panginoon lahat, magbabalik yung 100 percent na kalusugan niya," the vice mayor further said.

Dodot then relayed a statement written by his dad, saying, "I am deeply honored and humbled to accept this lifetime achievement award. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to the PBA Press Corps for this recognition reflecting on my career."

As part of paying tribute to Robert Jaworski Sr, a Jaworski-themed memorabilia exhibit by basketball memorabilia collector Dr. Mico Mesina was also set up outside the Novotel Monet Ballroom.
