MANILA—Kevin Quiambao made an impressive comeback from a right ankle sprain, but his efforts weren’t enough to lift the Goyang Sono SkyGunners, who fell to the Anyang Red Boosters, 94-69, on Tuesday afternoon.

The two-time UAAP MVP, who was sidelined for two weeks due to the injury, showed flashes of brilliance.

He demonstrated that he can still perform at a high level by delivering 14 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.

Goyang managed to stay competitive in the first half, trailing by only 8 points, 51-43.

However, Anyang’s suffocating defense coupled with hot shooting extended the deficit to 17 points heading into the final frame, 75-58.

Goyang’s woes continued in the fourth quarter, mustering just 11 points while Anyang added 19 to seal the victory.

Deonte Burton, a three-year NBA veteran, led the Red Boosters with 24 points and 6 rebounds.

On the other hand, Filipino star Javi Gomez de Liaño, who also plays for Anyang, saw limited action, logging 6 minutes and grabbing one rebound.

Despite the loss, Quiambao’s return offered a silver lining for the struggling SkyGunners, who have now lost four of their last five games.

Goyang’s record dropped to 10-23, keeping them at the bottom of the standings.

Meanwhile, Anyang improved to 11-23, placing 9th overall.

Goyang will face another challenge on Friday when they take on the Suwon KT Sonicboom, while Anyang will look to build on this momentum against the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phobeus on Saturday.
