Eumir Marcial's brother-in-law says Olympic medalist 'leeching' from services

MANILA—The brother-in-law of former Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial denied the star boxer's claims that he financially supports his ex-wife's family.

Kester Galarpe even said that Marcial was the one who made the most out of him in the latest twist to the story surrounding Marcial's unceremonious split with his spouse, Princess, highlighted by revelations last January that Marcial had been cheating and even physically abusing her.

"Apparently, my good brother-in-law and his family have been claiming to people how he’s the one who had been financially supporting our family, and how we’re the ones who benefited from his then success. Such a bold claim and a bit of a stretch, isn’t it? Bold of you to say that when for years it was you who benefited from my service. The best part? You made me work for free. Yes, shocking, right? Since the pandemic, which means starting from 2020 (when you were not an Olympian yet), you have been leeching from my services—having me write hundreds of social media content, develop business letters, media kits, brand documents, and even go as far as reviewing many of your brand endorsements contracts for you. God knows you, and everyone in your family knows about this," Kester Galarpe said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

According to Princess' brother, he decided to speak up now as he believes Marcial "continue to manipulate the truth."

Galarpe also claimed Marcial tried to stop him from accepting a new job by finally offering him financial compensation for his current role as part of the boxing star's marketing team.

"When I informed you that I got accepted to my current job, what did you do? You offered that I don’t take the job in exchange for PHP15,000/month. Amazing right? All of a sudden, you felt the urge to compensate me, but luckily, my sister helped you understand that the longer I work for you, the harder it would be to jumpstart my career. After all, our careers don’t matter, right? What matters most is that you get what you want, and you made sure to make it everyone their business to make your success our top priority. That’s exactly what you’ve been doing for years, not just to me, to your wife, to my family, but even to your own family. The laptop you’re boasting that you gifted me (which I didn’t ask for in the first place, because I know it would mean more unpaid work)? Boy, that doesn’t even come close to even 1% of all the money I helped you earn for years. God knows I didn’t study so hard in UP just so you could freeload from me," Galarpe continued.

He also said that Marcial only wanted to reconcile with his now estranged wife because he "only loved what my sister can do for you."

"We both know my sister can live and work fine on her own, but you barely can. Because without my sister working as your brand manager, who’s going to secure and deal with those brand endorsements? Who’s going to manage your brand and all your social media engagements? Who’s going to make your coffee and meals every day? You and your whole family benefited from my sister’s kindness, more than you guys will ever admit and realize," Galarpe added.

He also claimed that Marcial relied too on his other in-laws in some other chores while adding his dad and Los Angeles-based relatives also did their roles in supporting the pugilist.

"No offense, but my family’s not the ones who’s only calling you just to ask for money, aren’t they? Such an insult to say that you’ve been the one supporting us when my siblings work hard to give their families the best life. So my question now is, who’s supporting whom and who’s benefiting from whom? I’ll leave you the answer," Galarpe dared Marcial near the conclusion of his statement.

Galarpe ended by saying they got offended by what Marcial's family has been claiming on their end.

Marcial, currently 5-0 in the professional ranks, has yet to make a return to the ring since his early Paris Olympics exit.
