QUEZON CITY--At age 33, Terrence Romeo could still be an efficient contributor for any team, even from other Asian countries.
No wonder why the spitfire combo guard himself confirmed on Sunday that at least one foreign team expressed its interest in signing him as he is set to enter free agency this August.
"Meron talagang offer overseas," Romeo said on Sunday during the launch of his latest endorsement at the Luxent Hotel here.
Romeo was named the new ambassador for ABCVIP during the said event, making him the latest pro athlete to become an endorser for an online betting platform.
However, Romeo kept mum about the identity of the overseas club that is looking to sign him, as his main priority is to be re-signed with a PBA team, be it the Dyip, who are set to sell their franchise to the Zamboanga Valientes, or another team.
"Ang priority ko talaga is gusto ko munang mag-try dito sa atin sa PBA," Romeo further said, adding that he is currently on his own without an agent representing him.
He continued by saying that even if there is some excitement about the thought of being part of the likes of Japan B.League six years after he first received offers from some teams there ahead of the then proposal to introduce the Asian player quota, his love for the PBA would never fade.
"Hindi mawawala yung love ko sa PBA talaga. Iba yung love ko sa PBA kasi dyan ako nag-start. Kung wala talaga akong makausap or chance, then doon pa rin yung bagsak. Hanap ka pa rin ng malalaruan mong team. Hindi naman pupwede na mag-stop ka pag natapos na yung isang bagay, parang titigil ka na rin. Sa life naman, tuluy-tuloy lang. For sure, magiging OK din ang lahat," Romeo further said.
For now, his focus is on getting back into shape as he has already recovered from an injury.
"Naka-recover na ako. Tuluy-tuloy na yung strengthening," Romeo further said.
However, he added that he will sit out Terrafirma's last two games in the PBA Philippine Cup against Rain or Shine and Blackwater, which also means we may have already seen the last of him playing for Terrafirma if either he signs with another team or the Terrafirma-Valientes deal is complete.
