PASAY—A night after a rare inclement weather on a January showered the entire metropolis, TNT stormed the SM Mall of Asia Arena with hot outside shooting to wash out San Miguel, 110-87, in Game 4 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals on Wednesday night.
The Tropang 5G quickly pulled away with long range bombs capped by a buzzer-beater from three-fourths length of the court to open a 35-18 lead after the first quarter and sustained the large lead until the end.
Calvin Oftana fired a conference-high 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting including 5-of-8 on threes, six rebounds, four steals, and one block for TNT, which tied the best-of-seven series at 2-2.
Heading added 17 points, one rebound, six assists, and one steal.
As a team, the PLDT franchise went 15-of-35 in total from long range.
June Mar Fajardo, fresh from winning the Best Player of the Conference award, led SMB with 18 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
