MANILA—The UAAP has barred all coaching staff members of Ateneo de Manila University's men's basketball team who were present during the June 8 incident in Dipaculao, Aurora, pending the outcome of multiple ongoing investigations.

In a statement released on Friday, the UAAP board of trustees approved the recommendation of the board of managing directors to prohibit the involved Ateneo personnel from participating in any UAAP-related activities in any capacity, effective immediately while investigations are underway.

According to the league, the measure is intended to preserve the integrity of the ongoing inquiry and ensure transparency and due process as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

While no names were mentioned in the statement, head coach Tab Baldwin and assistants Dean Castaño, Jon Jacinto, and Sandro Soriano were reportedly present in Dipaculao during the ill-fated team building activity.

Baldwin already tendered his resignation as head coach on Monday along with team manager Epok Quimpo.

The UAAP also set July 15 as the deadline for Ateneo to submit its official findings from its independent fact-finding investigation.

“Amidst differing and clashing perceptions on this tragic incident, the UAAP, as a collegial body, is committed to adhere to its own governing rules and processes,” the league stated, emphasizing that accountability will be determined only after a thorough and impartial review of all findings.

The UAAP added that any individuals found responsible for wrongdoing will be held fully accountable under league regulations.
