MANILA—Converge will turn to a PBA journeyman as it looks to get out of a dry spell that dragged the team from being a top contender to a club aiming for survival.
The FiberXers announced on Monday night that they signed Cameron Clark to replace Jamaal Franklin in time for their second-round matchup against the Terrafirma Dyip the night after.
The former French league champion will make his fourth stop in the Philippines' top flight after previous stops with NLEX, San Miguel, and Hong Kong Eastern.
Both Terrafirma and Converge are tied for fourth place in Group A at 3-4, which makes their 5:15 p.m. encounter at the Ynares Center 1 in Antipolo a potential decider on which team gets the last ride to the quarterfinals.
A win by the FiberXers, who started the conference 3-0 despite on-and-off numbers from original import Jalen Hudson but went 0-4 the rest of the way, including 0-3 under Franklin, will give them the group stage sweep over the Dyip, which could be the tiebreaker should they still end up in a deadlock by the end of the elimination round.
A Terrafirma victory, though, could also give them the tiebreaker on head-to-head quotients since Converge only won by two points in their first meeting.
The second game of the doubleheader, originally scheduled at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium but moved to the Ynares Center 1, will have NLEX locking horns with TNT at 7:30 p.m.
