MANILA—NLEX and even TNT are praying that DeQuan Jones can recover quickly after a freak injury in the third quarter of their Tuesday night PBA Governors' Cup game at Ynares Center 1 in Antipolo.
Jones appeared to have dislocated his ankle while driving to the paint against TNT's defense with 7:27 left in the said period.
As Jones was being stretchered out, Rosser and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson could not hide their emotions seeing a fellow basketball player getting injured like that.
Courtside reporter Belle Gregorio, after talking to the Road Warriors' team doctor, later said that there was a "complete fracture" of Jones' right lower leg and will undergo surgery on Wednesday.
Recovery via surgery could take at least six months, which effectively means Jones is done for the conference.
Regardless of what happens in the game, which is still ongoing as of posting, NLEX will have a short window to find a replacement import for its next game on Friday night against Converge at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
