SAN JUAN, MM—Letran added some early woes to San Sebastian with a 99-62 blowout in the lone NCAA men's basketball game that pushed through as scheduled despite the heavy Friday rains at the FilOil Centre.
Still given the green light to play despite the stormy weather, unlike the anticipated JRU Heavy Bombers-San Beda Red Lions game, the Knights quickly delivered the hammer on the Golden Stags, banking on a 25-12 second quarter to open a 49-27 halftime lead.
Letran never looked back from there.
Denzil Walker led the Knights, now 2-0 in Group B, with 25 points on 9 of 13 shooting, including 4 of 7 on threes, three rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks.
Chad Gammad added 19 points, also hitting four triples, four rebounds, three assists, and five steals, while Titing Manalili put up 14 points, going 5-for-5 from the field, nine assists, and five steals.
Khit Barroga led the Golden Stags, who dropped to 0-2, with eight points and one rebound, as no San Sebastian player hit double digits scoring-wise.
