RIO DE JANEIRO--Kirstie Alora's Olympic stint ended in a heartbreaking result, a 5-7 loss to Wiam Dislam in the repechage round of the 67-kilogram women's taekwondo event on Sunday (Philippine Time).
Alora got a chance to vie for the bronze when her previous tormentor, Maria Espinoza, made it to the gold medal match.
Alora was actually ahead, 5-4, with only 20 seconds left in the lower bracket semis, but Dislam scored three straight points to steal the win from Alora.
Alora's loss officially ended the Philippines' stint in the Rio Olympics, taking only one medal, a silver courtesy of weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz.
