QUEZON CITY—Ginebra swept the individual awards for the PBA Commissioner's Cup as announced on Wednesday night before Game 4 of the finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Justin Brownlee first captured his fourth Best Import of the Conference award and third for the mid-season tournament.
The six-foot-six swingman stood tall again over his bigger opponents as he won via a landslide with 1,264 points, way ahead of second-placer Jaylen Johnson.
Among those eligible for the award, that is, those who finished the semifinals, Brownlee was ranked number one in statistical points with 593, while the media unanimously chose him as the top foreign recruit, and he also topped the player votes.
Johnson zoomed to second with 888 points after securing all but one second-place vote from the media and most of the second-place votes from the players.
Chris McCullough, despite coming in for TNT in Game 4 of the semifinals, was third with 690 points, while Pat Gardner, who was also brought in for Game 4 by Meralco, was fourth with 534.
On the other hand, Abarrientos won his first Best Player of the Conference award after he too secured a huge chunk of votes.
Despite placing third in the SP race, Abarrientos also swept the first-place votes from the media and got a supermajority of first-place votes from the players, ending up with 1,147 points.
Robert Bolick, who led the SP race, was second with 840 points, while June Mar Fajardo, the BPC for the Philippine Cup, was third with 573.
Ricci Rivero was fourth with 431 points, while Jerrick Ahanmisi finished fifth with 421.
