QUEZON CITY—Oklahoma City nearly shut down Victor Wembanyama and clobbered San Antonio 116-104 in the last scheduled NBA Opening Day game on Wednesday (Philippine Time) at the latter's home, the Frost Bank Center.

Wembanyama was held to one of his worst performances in the NBA, missing his first 12 shots before beating the third-quarter buzzer with a putback dunk for his lone made field goal.

The French superstar still got his double-double mainly due to free throws, but he only finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and one steal alongside six blocks for the Spurs, which beat the Thunder in last season's Western Conference Finals.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC with 32 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and three blocks.

Filipino-American star Jared McCain added 20 points on 7-for-9 shooting, including 6-for-8 from deep, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Stephon Castle stepped up for Wembanyama's struggles and led San Antonio with 24 points, seven rebounds, and one assist.

Fil-Am star Dylan Harper added 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
